Fishing
Open Water Fishing Season
One of the greatest benefits of fishing Lake of the Woods is the variety of species. There’s a reason we are called “The Walleye Capital of the World” as Lake of the Woods is truly an incredible walleye and sauger fishery. But there are many other fish to target including Muskie, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Crappie, Northern Pike, Perch, Lake Trout, Burbot, Sturgeon and more. As a true angler’s dream, it’s one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world and from our resort you have easy access to fish both Minnesota and Canadian waters.
We Offer Guided Hunting Trips
In addition to world-class fishing, we provide exceptional guided hunts for black bear, waterfowl, deer and wolves. We have experienced guides that live here and know these woods and waters, on both sides of the border. And if you love to hunt AND fish, we have a Cast and Blast packages, where you can hunt waterfowl and catch fish the same day.
Guided Ice Fishing
Our guided ice fishing trips are an incredible experience for everyone.. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned angler, we do all of the work with setting up the fish houses. We transport you to a heated fish house so you can drop a line and start setting hooks.
We have heated permanent houses on both the Minnesota and Canadian (Ontario) sides of the border. In our Canadian houses, we target giant crappie and lake trout, as well as walleye, sauger and pike . We have 2, 4 and 6-man houses available, depending on the size of your group. Our Ice house rentals include heated transportation to and from the house each day via Bombardier. On the Minnesota side, bait is complimentary with a house rental.
Do-it-Yourself Ice Fishing
Want to fish on your own? No worries! We also cater to the anglers that bring their own gear and are ready for a Northwoods Ice Fishing adventure. We would be glad to sit down with you and point out a few places to save you some time finding fish as well as areas to avoid due to high-current and unsafe for travel. We love when our guests catch fish and will point you in the right direction!
